Our commitment to Africa

Ensuring the sustainable development of our planet is critical.  We are contributing to a more sustainable development of the areas where we operate, as part of our trade, our mission.

Our performance depends on the well-being of the populations we serve and our employees, so we have decided to describe our commitments and performance based on three aspects.

Since 2014, nine commitments, based on teamwork within the Veolia group, have enabled Veolia to steer and advertise the priorities of its corporate social strategy.

The sustainable development objectives by the United Nations

Veolia fully support the 17 Sustainable Development Objectives (SDGs) initiated by the United Nations

To mark the United Nations’ World Environment Day and continuing on from its nine sustainable development commitments, Veolia has presented in June 2016 its Environmental Objectives Plan for the period 2016-2018. This sets precise targets for protecting the environment under six main topic headings :

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Energy efficiency
  • Recycling materials and energy
  • Managing water resources
  • Water and air quality
  • Managing ecosystems
