Water treatment and reuse to support coal seam gas production

QGC (A BG GROUP SUBSIDIARY), TREATMENT OF GROUNDWATER PRODUCED ALONGSIDE NATURAL GAS – QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

QGC is a leading coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on establishing the world’s first project to convert coal seam gas into liquefied natural gas.

QGC was in search of a partner to operate and maintain three water treatment plants that support coal seam gas production. Veolia was chosen for its unique expertise in managing the complete production water treatment cycle in the complex field of unconventional oil and gas. The company’s strong local presence was a decisive selling point.

Veolia's solution consists of a 20-year operations & maintenance contract for three water treatment plants, which treat groundwater produced alongside natural gas.

Australia has the world’s third biggest coal gas deposits after the US and Canada. The unconventional gas market will be one of the most active sectors in coming years.
