Tasmanian premier opens new $7 million Veolia facility

Tasmanian Premier, The Hon Will Hodgman today opened Veolia’s new southern commercial facility

Located at Cambridge Industrial Precinct, about 15 kilometres from Hobart’s CBD, the state-of-the-art facility built for environmental services company Veolia, cost around $7 million to build and accommodates approximately 140 full time employees; as well as over 90 vehicles.

Commenting on the new facility, Premier, The Hon Will Hodgman said:

“Veolia is a leader when it comes to environmental services and its decision to base its new corporate and operations base at Cambridge is an important vote of confidence in its workforce and the broader Tasmanian economy.”

Veolia’s Group General Manager for Tasmania, Mr. Simon Tori, said the purpose-built facility is a response to the new opportunities that are arising around the State across water, waste and energy.

“For over 30 years Veolia has been providing environmental services across the State. There are significant opportunities for our business in Tasmania, where sustainable approaches to water, waste and energy are front of mind. For Veolia, our new facility reflects our commitment to continue providing leading environmental and social outcomes to both industry and the community for many years to come.”

The new facility, located in the new Cambridge industrial precinct, offers increased areas for office space, staff amenities, parking and maintenance workshop. In keeping with Veolia’s commitment to continual improvement of environmental and safety performance, the site also boasts state-of-the-art environmental management systems covering both storm-water and sewer discharges, as well as a fully compliant “quarantine wash” facility.

Veolia’s employees are now operating from the site, having moved from the previous site in Mornington.
