THE SOLUTIONWorking in collaboration with Carnes Hill Marketplace, a major shopping centre in Sydney’s south-west, Veolia installed what was Australia’s first solar powered waste compactor, further helping the centre to reduce the use of electricity and associated energy costs.
Developed in conjunction with Pakmor Waste Equipment Australia, a leading manufacturer who specialises in the unique innovation of waste and recycling equipment; this compactor includes highly sophisticated technology that allows Veolia to monitor its energy consumption remotely, further adjusting operations to improve energy efficiency.
THE RESULTCompaction units are some of the most heavily utilised on-site waste equipment for shopping centres across Australia, therefore the introduction of solar-based compactors present the industry with a great opportunity to reduce the environmental impacts of waste.
