The Foresight Committee, the Institute's central body, is comprised of six internationally renowned experts who contribute an external view from a variety of professional angles and who define the overall direction for discussions.
The Institute also taps into an extensive network of researchers and experts around the globe.
Its activities are based on three instruments:
- The Foresight Research Program
With its academic partners, the Institute puts together a research program addressing the main environmental trends. In addition to current projects with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI, India) and the Institut du Développement Durable et des Relations Internationales (IDDRI, France) for example, two new foresight partners have come on board in 2008, namely, the Blue Plan for the Mediterranean and Columbia University (United States). - International conferences
Through its Environmental Foresight Conference program, the Institute is committed to contributing to debate and discussion each time about a different topic and in a different geographic region. The fourth session was held in 2007 in Montreal (Canada) on the topic of "Climate 2050: Technology and Policy Solutions." The next conference will be held in Abu Dhabi, (United Arab Emirates) in January 2009. - Publications
In order to achieve its aim of capitalizing on and sharing experience and knowledge, the Institute publishes two original scientific journals: S.A.P.I.EN.S (interdisciplinary surveys and perspectives about environment-related topics) and FACTS (field action science).
