Inauguration of the Ludres high-performance Materials Recovery Facility
The Ludres high-performance materials recovery facility was officially inaugurated today in the presence of Pierre Boileau, Mayor of Ludres, André Rossinot, President of the Greater Nancy Urban Community, Henri Proglio, Chairman and CEO of Veolia Environnement, and Hugues Parant, Prefect of the Meurthe-et-Moselle département.

Veolia Environmental Services wins Merseyside contract
Veolia Environmental Services has been awarded a twenty-year Waste Management and Recycling Contract with a value of £640 million by the Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority (MWDA) on behalf of the Merseyside and Halton Waste Partnership. The decision follows Veolia’s selection as preferred bidder last month.

The Veolia Environnement Combined Ordinary and Extraordinary Shareholders’ Meeting convened at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris on Thursday, May 7, 2009, and was chaired by Henri Proglio, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. All the resolutions before the meeting were approved by a large majority.

First quarter 2009 in line with expectations

Consolidated revenue: €9,267.0 million, up 5% at constant exchange rates (up 4% at current exchange rates), including 3.4% organic growth
Consolidated operating cash flow: €1,059.3 million, a decrease of 4.1% at constant exchange rates (decrease of 6.6% at current exchange rates)
Net financial debt: €16.8 billion as compared with €16.5 billion at December 31, 2008, primarily due to the seasonality of the working capital requirement
