Caring for severe-burn victims

After helping build and equip a center for patients suffering from third-degree burns at Herat Hospital in Afghanistan, the Veolia Environnement Foundation has again pooled its resources to assist NGO HumaniTerra International on a similar project in Cambodia.

The goal is to set up the country's first national center for reparative surgery and third-degree burns at Preah Kossomak Public - Hospital in Phnom Penh.

Initial exploratory studies and validation processes begun in the fourth quarter of 2010 are scheduled to continue into early 2011.

Once construction is complete, volunteers from Dalkia subsidiary Stérience will share their skills and expertise in sterilization and hygiene, and assist with training for center employees.
