Sketches around the World

Sketches around the World is Veolia Environnement's third international campaign. As part of a class project, students ages 9-11 reflected on progress and sustainable development and developed "messages about progress for the future of our planet".
In 2006, children on five continents and 27 countries participated in this activity and offer their answers to these questions.

After conducting surveys in their region, city, neighborhood or village and thinking about these questions with help from their teachers, the children made two kinds of drawings:

  • the first illustrates an initiative already underway that represents progress for the environment, health and the quality of life;
  • the second shows a project that the children would like to see developed and that could be carried out as an initiative.

Partners

The Sketches around the World campaign is an activity of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014).
That's why UNESCO, the French National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO's Education Sector (its Education for Sustainable Development section), UNESCO's Associated Schools Project Network and the United Nations Environment Programme are supporting this international campaign.
