The new frontiers of the city

On the outskirts of the city, small fields produce a variety of fruit and vegetables for people living in the nearby city.

Unlike the large cultivated areas of the beginning of the century, the landscape is divided into small plots that are organized around artificial streams, a new mode of irrigation created by recycling wastewater from the city.

Large agricultural sheds are replaced by tumuli. These mounds of land, new agricultural storage places, use the soil for insulation, thus preserving the landscape. These tumuli protect their contents against bad weather. Their plant covered surfaces act as islands of biodiversity.

Houses are built from recycled local materials using new industrial techniques. Energy is decentralized and produced locally. Small renewable energy production units are installed in gardens.
Not far from the houses, one or more micro-plants are responsible for treating their wastewater. They use plant-based depollution methods, and are managed by "night watchmen - filtration towers that have taken up residence in the landscape. In front of the houses, autonomous robotic lawnmowers maintain lawns, even in bad weather.
