In June 2014, Veolia has been awarded a two-year extension contract for the operations and maintenance (O&M) of the industrial wastewater treatment plant of Sipchem's (Saudi International Petrochemical Company) Acetyl Complex in Saudi Arabia.

 

Established in 1999, Sipchem specializes in the production of basic and intermediate chemicals used to manufacture a multitude of products.

Veolia was previously awarded a five-year contract for the start-up and operation and maintenance of the Sipchem IWWTP which began in 2009 to treat Phase-2 industrial effluents. Since the launch of the project, Veolia has worked effortlessly to create an environment in which Sipchem products and services can be produced efficiently.

The two-year renewal of the contract represents an estimated total turnover of US $ 2.6 million. Veolia will continue to oversee the operation of the complex facilities capable of treating 21 types of different polluted flows and guarantee the performance of plant. 

In addition, Veolia has taken over the management of Phase-1 waste water streams in the extension. Our team will also monitor the final wastewater discharge quality from Sipchem after blending of both phase-1 & 2 streams and achieve RC Environmental Regulation quality for the blended wastewater discharge.

The Acetyls Complex is Saudi Arabia's International Petrochemical Company (SipChem) project located in Jubail Industrial City. The facility, which is named Jubail Acetyls Complex is SipChem's second phase of development plan & the complex produces 450,000 tonnes of acetic acid, 330,000 tonnes of vinyl acetate monomer and 345,000 tonnes of carbon monoxide annually once complete.

Saudi International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem) manufactures and markets methanol, butanediol, tetrahydrofuran, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, vinyl acetate monomer, as well as carbon monoxide through its various affiliates. It has been listed on Saudi Stock Market since 2006.
