Images from the "made in AME" Health and Safety Week!

Veolia organized the traditional International Health and Safety at Work Week from 16 to 20 September. In its 5th year, it involved all employees in the Africa and Middle East zone around the prevention of occupational risks under the banner "Act for a better tomorrow". In Morocco, at Amendis and Redal, then in the United Arab Emirates with the Middle East teams, Christophe Maquet, Executive Vice President Africa and Middle East (AME), pointed out that "the Group and the AME region have made "zero accidents" a choice, an objective and even a way of leveraging performance". Amendis

At Amendis, priority was put on protecting employees’ health and safety and preventing major risks at work. The International Health and Safety at Work Week also offered the opportunity to review the ongoing involvement of employees around the absolute priority of zero accidents at work.

The activities organized included:

  • speeches by Chouhaid Nasr, Amendis CEO, Christophe Maquet, Executive Vice President Africa and Middle East, and Zineb Chaoudri, Director of Communication at Amendis at the International Health and Safety at Work Week launch ceremony
  • the presentation of the ISO 45001 certificate by Bureau Veritas to Amendis
  • the award ceremony for employees’ children who participated in the "Act for a better tomorrow" visual creation competition
  • a visit to the electrical works site with Frédéric Goetz, Veolia's Chief Occupational Health and Safety Officer, and Mouloud Nouraki, Chief Operating Officer Tangier for a demonstration of the electrical lockout method
  • training to raise employee awareness of the mandatory Veolia safety standards that apply to technical interventions.

Redal 

At Redal, the launch of the International Health and Safety at Work Week focused on raising employee awareness of safety and adopting responsible behaviour.

In the International Health and Safety at Work Week village, employees were able to discover the high-risk management standards with a view to zero accidents.

  • Christophe Maquet's visit to Redal’s International Health and Safety at Work Week village
  • the presentation of the 10 standards for managing high-risk activities in the presence of Christophe Maquet, Ali El Morer, Head of Permanent Control Department and Driss El Ouazzani, Redal CEO.
  • training for employees on safety measures to be respected during technical interventions
  • a site visit including an observation of the safety measures taken by Redal
  • the signature between Redal and 13 of its main suppliers and partners of a joint declaration aimed at improving health and safety

The SEEN

The SEEN conducted several actions as part of the 5th International Health and Safety at Work Week. Workshops were organized at all levels to enable employees to understand the week’s "Observing is caring" theme which aims to turn dangerous behaviours into safe behaviours in order to reduce accidents both at work and on the journey to work.

  • a speech by Ibrahim Akine Atta II, SEEN’s Acting CEO at the launch of the International Health and Safety at Work Week activities
  • a creative poster workshop on the theme "Observing is caring"
  • a conference on road traffic and the risks associated with the use of motorcycles
  • first aid training
  • awareness sessions led by operations managers and Occupational Health and Safety Committee representatives.
