Increase in short term availability of drinking water – Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

SUPPLYING WATER TO ADDIS ABABA The objective of the project was to improve the health of the Addis Ababa residents by enhancing water supply and sanitation services via increasing water supply availability and reliability, and by improving its quality.

Seureca, provided comprehensive consulting services to AAWSA - Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority (AAWSA) during more than 6 years.

 

Phase I : engineering design for works and tender documents

  • Review of existing  documents
  • Diagnosis of the treatment works and preparation of an inception report
  • Preliminary and detailed design of the rehabilitation and expansion works to Legedadi WTP, transmission and dams
  • Preparation of the Tender Documents, tender evaluation and preparation of contract documents

 

Phase II : Construction Supervision for the dams, water treatment plant and transmission main rehabilitation and expansion

  • Review of Contractors’ Work Program and drawings
  • Instruction to the Contractors and Supervision of Construction Operations
  • Advice to the Client on works progress and preparation of monthly progress reports
  • Inspections, testing and commissioning
  • Delivery of “as built” drawings and O&M manuals
  • Additional environmental, social and electromechanical components
  • Transfer of skills and technology and defect liability period

 

 

The successful implementation of this water supply infrastructure project contributes for 60% of the total Addis Ababa water production.
