Glenfield, SA

The Glenfield Waste Management Facility is located in Butler, SA. The regional facility is an open top landfill that accepts waste from Eyre Peninsula transfer stations operated by the Council.

The material deposited at the transfer stations is sorted to divert as much waste from landfill as possible. The residual waste, meaning waste that cannot be recovered for beneficial use is transported to the Glenfield site.

The site consists of a large open area with void space for landfilling. The site is designed and operated to the highest standards, meeting environmental requirements and is licensed by EPA to receive:

  • Commercial & Industrial Waste
  • Construction & Demolition Waste
  • Municipal Solid Waste
  • Putrescible Waste
  • Shredded tyres, not exceeding 250mm
  • Waste fill
  • Intermediate soil

The site currently processes 13,000 tonnes of waste per annum.
