In presenting their annual safety awards for the Illawarra, the Australian Industry Group commended Veolia NSW for achieving an enviable safety record, awarding them honours in the category of Safety.
A key part of Veolia’s commitment to work, health and safety is the implementation of a number of initiatives, namely the introduction of Always Safe principles, injury reduction programs as well as a comprehensive safety management system.
These initiatives have consequently resulted in the division achieving zero lost time injuries (3yrs LTI free for Port Kembla, and over 4yrs LTI free for Southern IS), and a continuous reduction in medically treated injuries, which are currently sitting at a frequency rate of 3.30, a reduction of more than 80% in the last 12 months.
