North West Alliance secures contract extension with Woodside

Woodside has extended its partnership with North West Alliance.

Woodside has extended its partnership with North West Alliance, a 50/50 joint venture between Veolia and Our Country for the provision of waste management services in Western Australia's Pilbara region.

The multi-million dollar contract commenced in 2013 and has been extended for a further four years.

North West Alliance director Blaze Kwaymullina said its vision was to provide safe and cost-effective waste management services in the Pilbara region.

"It is also about delivering significant social return on investment through local indigenous contracting employment opportunities and community investment and education," he said.

The joint venture has become one of the largest indigenous waste management companies in Australia, with a turnover in the tens of millions.

Committed to generating and nurturing local jobs and local partnerships, North West Alliance's workforce comprises 50% aboriginal Australians and it has generated $44 million for the Pilbara region since 2013 through supply chain, trade and employment opportunities.
