Energy Operational Compliance

We believe an integrated approach allows for a continuous improvement cycle to address all relevant aspects of operations in one process.

Operational standards are set through consultation with all relevant stakeholders, consideration of legislative and regulatory requirements and analysis of incidents relating to the standard being set or reviewed. Each year, a strategic plan for safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) is established, which requires that each metric and process within the business is reviewed.

A full review and upgrade of all processes occurs at least every three years or earlier, should circumstances change or the existing process no longer be relevant.

What is Veolia’s approach for energy operational compliance?

Veolia is committed to developing a safety, health, environment and quality management  demonstrating our quality system framework, governance processes and controls to ensure compliance with contract requirements, technical specifications and quality standards. The plan also sets out our central principles of ‘quality workmanship’, ‘continuous improvement’, and ‘get it right the first time’.

What are the key features in Veolia’s energy operational compliance plan?

Underpinned by a suite of procedures, work instructions, forms, checklists and other record systems to ensure a quality oriented project delivery, the key features of our operational compliance plan are:

  • Standards compliance: the overarching Quality Management System is fully certified by BSI to ISO 9001:2008 quality management systems, AS 4801:2001 occupational health and safety management systems and OSHAS18001:2007
  • Clear quality roles and responsibilities: The SHEQ Advisor will be the project’s quality champion onsite with primary responsibilities for quality management
  • Fully integrated process and procedure controls: This plan forms a key part of the Veolia Integrated SHEQ Management System, contributing to the strong integration and alignment of one approach to quality, safety, environmental processes and procedures with engineering and other business processes
  • Comprehensive quality controls: The plan embodies quality controls including procedures, forms and checklists to regulate the site and production processes from end to end. The plan also outlines compliance monitoring, surveillance and scheduled audit requirements, and procedures for rectifying non-conformances.
  • Clear traceability, document control, change management and records control: Site systems provided across the supply chain and services are used to maintain records on quality and capture changes
  • Transparent monitoring and reporting: The plan specifies the comprehensive reporting requirements for performance, defect analysis, monitoring, audits and other quality metrics.
  • Continuous improvement (CI):  The plan also reinforces continuous improvement opportunities available through use of the Veolia Continuous Improvement Processes.
