When your RECYCLEPAK™ box is full, simply scan the QR code on the box and complete the online collection form. Veolia will email you a consignment note to print and stick onto the box, then your box is ready to go and will be collected by our couriers directly from your pick-up location.

When do I have to return my box?

You will have 12 months to use your box. If you have not returned your box within that period you must recycle it via standard recycling methods. To arrange a collection click here

How do I recycle the box?

If you choose not to return the box, your agreement has expired or you no longer wish to use it, you can recycle it through standard commercial recycling methods. Cardboard can be recycled through the 'blue' Paper Cardboard bins provided by your Recycling Service Provider and the 'yellow' Mixed Recyclable/Commingle collections.

What happens if I move?

The RECYCLEPAKservice is not transferable, please contact Veolia to organise a collection of the box(es) before you move.

What happens to the materials?

Boxes are sent directly from our customers to a nominated and licensed recycling facility. These facilities have been heavily vetted by Veolia to ensure that they comply with all the necessary Environmental Protection measures.

Waste Stream  What happens to the materials?

E-Waste

E-Waste is delivered to a recovery facility which offers a two-tiered approach: reusing and recycling. Reusable items deemed suitable for sale are identified and sent to an auction house. Microsoft products are tested and refurbished if authorised to do so. The majority of items that cannot be reused or refurbished are dismantled for recycling using a manual process. There are over 90 different types of materials used in electronics, mainly metals, plastic and hazardous materials like lead, cadmium and mercury. The materials recovered are sold as material components such as aluminium, brass, copper and plastic.

Hard Hats

Hard hats are washed, sorted and pelletised ready to be remanufactured into new products

Plastic Straws

Plastic straws are recyclable but can’t be recycled if collected through typical kerbside collection methods as they are too small and are missed in the mechanical sorting process. By collecting them in a RECYCLEPAK box we can deliver them to a recycling facility where they will be pelletised and ready to remanufacture into other plastic products.

Safety Glasses

Safety glasses are washed, sorted and pelletised ready to be remanufactured into new products.

Uniforms

General uniforms which require debranding are sorted, debranded and then shredded in Australia to ensure brands are not misused. The shredded textile is then shipped overseas to create new yarn, felts, non-wovens and further processed into finished goods.

What happens if the wrong items are placed in the box?

This is classed as ‘contamination’ which will mean that the contents of the box will be landfilled. Please only place the items shown on the box’s sticker, into the box to ensure contents can be recycled.

What is the definition of each material (what’s in/out)?

E-Waste (Small)

E-waste is electronic products that are unwanted, not working, and nearing or at the end of their “useful life.” It consists of anything domestic that plugs into a power point, uses a charger or is powered by a battery. Only small e-waste items are accepted. Examples include: computer accessories and cables, gaming consoles, small home appliances, USB’s, mobile phones, battery operated toys, tools. Loose batteries are not accepted. Please remove any loose batteries. Large items such as monitors, printers and hard drives are not accepted. Please remember that the box must not exceed 15kg in weight.

Hard Hats

Hard hard shells only, please ensure the inserts, straps and any reflective tape has been removed.

Safety Glasses

Safety Glasses without any rubber or silicone components.

Plastic Straws

Plastic straws are accepted. No paper straws. Please ensure they are reasonably free of moisture.

Uniform

Clothing made of Cotton, Polyester or Cotton/Polyester blend. All garments will be de-branded prior to recycling ensuring that your uniforms and brand are not misused. Kevlar is unfortunately not able to be recycled through this collection method.
