PFAS

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs) are emerging pollutants of increasing public health and environmental concern due to reports of their persistence, toxicity and bioaccumulation potential.

PFAS compounds are used in a variety of consumer and industrial applications. The chemicals within the PFAS compound are not broken down and require decontamination and treatment. PFAS can be found in soil, concrete, groundwater, surface water, and sediments.

Does Veolia offer PFAS contamination services?

Veolia offers proven solutions for remediation of PFAS contamination based on scientific data and the results of trials and testing. A detailed site assessment will be necessary to specify the most effective solution.

Our fleet of mobile water treatment units that can be deployed to site for in-situ treatment. A treatment can also be configured based on the concentration of PFAS, the presence of other contaminants and organics in the source water and the treated water specification. We can also treat contaminated water off-site at our liquid treatment facilities.

The only effective method for the complete destruction of PFAS chemicals is thermal destruction. Chemicals containing PFAS can be first treated in our liquid treatment plant, and the residuals need to be thermally destroyed to complete the process and ensure the contamination is removed from the environment.
