Safeguarding access to water for those in need

In France, two million households spend more than 3% of their income on water consumption, an amount that many experts consider excessive. Fair, progressive rates and proper management of water use enable these needy households to continue to have access to water.

MAINTAINING ACCESS TO WATER FOR THOSE EXPERIENCING FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES

Through our Water for All program, we have created solutions (payment schedules, debt write-offs, and water vouchers) to maintain access to service when household emergencies arise, to help customers manage their budget and water use over time, and to prevent waste by notifying customers when their use exceeds typical levels. For example, households with an individual meter can track their water on a daily basis to keep their expenses under control. In the event of abnormal water use (such as excess consumption), customers receive a message via text message or e-mail. Their bill is generated on the basis of actual consumption using remote meter reading.

A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM ADAPTED TO LOCAL NEEDS

This comprehensive assistance program can be tailored to the needs of each municipality, in cooperation with community stakeholders and nonprofit organizations. It provides a guarantee of fair and equitable service for all users and does not require a significant presence at residential complexes.
