To adapt to the evolution of the volume of waste in these two arrondissements, **Veolia** teams will first optimize the collection resources deployed on the ground. In a second phase, food waste will be collected and by 2020 will **reach 30 kg of bio-waste per person per year** in line with the City of Paris’ "**zero waste**" strategy.

## Fighting food waste, reducing the carbon footprint

With the "door to door" collection system set up by Veolia, the City of Paris will install special containers in apartment buildings and roll out an information campaign to help Parisians correctly sort **food waste**. This City of Paris initiative to fight food waste will be involved in **the** **circular economy** and **reduce the capital’s carbon footprint**: heat recovered during the anaerobic digestion of this biowaste will be transformed into **green electricity** and the residues into **compost**.

Year on year we adapt our methods and our performances to changes in the different types of waste.
