"Together committed to the environment 2016": 8,400 children educated about the oceans thanks to the mobilization of Veolia employees

For the third consecutive year, the operation "Together committed to the environment" invited Group employees to share their personal commitment to the environment. The principle this year: "1 click, 4 children". That is to say, for every employee involved in the operation, 4 children will benefit from education about the oceans and climate. In total, 8,400 children will have access to this educational programme, offered by Tara Expeditions, a Veolia Foundation partner.

Launched on 5 June to mark the UN World Environment Day, the operation "Together committed to the environment" mobilized 2,100 Group employees who shared their artistic, educational and sporting commitment in relation to protecting the environment. Their mobilization, allows 8,400 children to participate in the educational programme run by Tara Expeditions. They will be able to visit the famous vessel during its stopovers or will be involved in educational activities in class.

The Veolia Foundation alongside Tara protecting coral reefs

The oceans, which absorb nearly a quarter of all CO2 emissions, play a decisive role in climate regulation. Over the last 13 years, the schooner Tara has travelled 350,000 kilometres studying the impact of climate change on our oceans and developing the awareness of young people and the general public about the environment. The Veolia Foundation supports the “Tara Pacific” expedition, devoted to the coral reefs, which left Lorient (France) on 28 May.
