**With the theme ‘Building Resilience Faster’, World Water Week (23-27 August) will address what worked and what did not during the Covid crisis and what we have learned. Today, decisive, structuring choices must be made to reconcile the environment and human development. This is why Veolia’s work has one ambition: ecological transformation.**

The time has come for radical solutions. For Veolia, this means meeting major challenges: support local authorities with inclusive and resilient public water and sanitation services, reduce the carbon intensity of our societies to fight against global warming, promote the circular economy to avoid the depletion of resources, and protect biodiversity.

As CEO Antoine Frérot stressed, Veolia is committed to delivering [multifaceted performance](/en/purpose/our-multifaceted-performance "Our multifaceted performance") for all its stakeholders, convinced that environmental, social, and economic issues form an indivisible whole.

## Veolia at World Water Week

The two sessions in which Veolia is participating address three conditions for [ecological transformation](/en/eco-transform "Acting and committing to ecological transformation"): digital technology, water and sanitation employees, and project funding.

### Monday 23 August at 11 a.m.

**Digitisation: no skill left behind / [*Digitalisation: No skill left behind*](https://www.worldwaterweek.org/event/9614-digitalisation-no-skill-left-behind).**

With **[Frédéric van Heems](https://www.linkedin.com/in/frederic-van-heems-20280218/?originalSubdomain=fr)**, **[Preet Brar](https://www.linkedin.com/in/preetbrar/)**, and **[Chloé Dupont](https://www.linkedin.com/in/chloedupont/)**

Digitisation is revolutionising water trades. In Morocco, Germany, New Zealand, India, the United States of America, Oman, and France, employees will talk about how digitisation has changed their daily lives.

### Wednesday 25 August at 5 p.m.

With **[Norfund](https://www.norfund.no/)** and **[SIWI](https://www.siwi.org/)**, **[Olivier Brousse](https://www.linkedin.com/in/olivierbrousse/)** will discuss the funding of water projects in Africa and examine the lessons to be learned from other sectors / ***[Bankable water projects in Africa & lessons from other sectors](https://www.worldwaterweek.org/event/9711-bankable-Bankable-water-projects-in-Africa-&-lessons-from-other-sectors)***.

There is a massive need for investment in water and sanitation infrastructure in Africa. 35 billion USD per year is needed to achieve SDG goals 6.1 and 6.2. Currently, less than half of this amount has been reached.
