The creation of the new Alliance to End Plastic Waste was announced in London on Wednesday, 16 January. It brings together around 30 global companies from the plastics and consumer goods value chain in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Veolia is a founding member of this alliance and its Chairman and CEO, Antoine Frérot, is one of the two vice chairmen.
The Veolia Institute organized a conference-debate on "Resilient Cities" on Tuesday, 18 December, on the occasion of the publication of its journal on the same theme. Jean-Christophe Levassor, director of La Condition Publique, Guillaume Josse, urban planner in the Huit group and Wexity, Eric Lesueur, president of 2EI Veolia and David Ménascé, director of the Azao firm and an HEC professor, explored the main risks cities are now facing and the way they are preparing to deal with them.
This new 3-year contract - with a further 3-year conditional renewal clause - will enable Veolia to optimize collection resources and support the City of Paris in its "zero waste" strategy.

The contract’s objective, which begins in January 2019, is to reduce residual non-recyclable household waste by 40% and recover 100% of waste by the end of the contract.

From 2 to 14 December Katowice (Poland) is hosting the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), bringing together 30,000 participants from 196 countries. Yesterday Veolia signed the European Climate Foundation call to "Step up Now".

On Tuesday 11 December on the initiative of the European Commission’s European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot, Veolia hosted 14 start-ups and innovative European companies for pitching & networking sessions at its headquarters in Aubervilliers. It was an opportunity for these entrepreneurs to present their solutions to transforming business to around a hundred Veolia employees.

The 2018 Veolia Performance Trophies presentation ceremony took place this morning in the presence of Antoine Frérot. The 6 winners will go to Boston to meet local teams and discover the facilities operated by the Group. For this 20th edition, among the 230 candidates that entered (double last year), 54 were selected from 40 schools - 23 in France and 17 worldwide.

Antoine Frérot, Veolia Chairman and CEO, Philippe Mauguin, CEO of the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, and Marc Michel, President of the Institut National de Recherche en Sciences et Technologies pour l'Environnement et l’Agriculture, yesterday signed a five-year framework agreement to continue their collaboration in the service of sustainable agriculture. Among the stated objectives was recovering the agronomic potential of soils using compost from the circular economy.
