Skills Development 

Firstly, all employees are required to undertake compliance training and job specific training designed to ensure that they have the necessary skills required for their role.
 
Secondly, employees are encouraged to attend external and internal skills development courses that enhance their work performance and internal mobility within the organisation.
 
Lastly, Veolia has a series of structured Leadership Development programs, called VIP (Veolia Improving People). The VIP Program focusses on the management and interpersonal skills required at each level of management from supervisors through to senior executives. The Program is tailored to our business and the needs of the participants.
  • VIPMe - targeted to first time leaders
  • VIPU - targeted to experienced leaders
  • VIPUS - targeted to senior managers / executives.

In addition to the VIP Program, Veolia has additional programs to benefit employees, these include:
  • A Strategic Management Program, run through the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM) aligned to the MGSM MBA program.
  • Certificate IV in Frontline Management
  • National Membership with the Australian Institute of Management (AIM). AIM offers a variety of training programs to further develop individuals to ensure they are set up for success in both their current and future roles within Veolia.
 

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeship programs in relevant trades are supported and encouraged.

In addition to the Veolia Wide programs above there are a number of training and development components, specific to individual divisions, including:
 

Water management

Veolia on averages invests in excess of 5 days training time with each of its employees.
 
Employees have access to structured on the job learning as well as facilitated development programs run both internally and externally. Some examples include:
  • The Certificate III in Water Operations.  Veolia Water Australia partners with local TAFE’s through Australia to facilitate this program for Operators throughout our sites. 
  • In New Zealand, we offer the opportunity to undertake National Certificates in Water Reticulation, Water Treatment and Waste Water Treatment – contract dependant.
  • Mentoring and coaching is encouraged and organised for individuals in line with their development objectives
 
Employees are enrolled in on-line courses using V-Learning (Veolia’s e-learning portal).  V-Learning provides a mixture of compliance and developmental programs. 
 

Waste management

Veolia is not only a recognised partner of the CPA & Engineers Australia but also has affiliations with some of Australia’s Leading Universities, such as University of New South Wales, Macquarie Graduate School of Management and Swinburne University.
 
Additionally, we have national memberships with providers such as Spruiket presentation skills and OPIC.
 

Energy management

Veolia has a national apprenticeship framework to support apprentices throughout their relevant 4 year certificate.
