Veolia sets out its commitment and signs up to tackle everyday sexism in the workplace

On January 25, France’s national anti-sexism day, Veolia, alongside 48 other organizations, signed the inter-company #StOpE charter to stop everyday sexism in the workplace. Launched in 2018, under the high patronage of the French Ministry for Gender Equality, Diversity and Equal Opportunities, this initiative is backed by nearly 200 private and public sector organizations to date. Focused on one goal: to achieve lasting change by tackling everyday sexism in the workplace.

Signing up to this initiative is particularly important because “thanks to this alliance of businesses, we will be able to make further progress with the actions that we are rolling out in France, and wherever Veolia is present around the world, to effectively tackle everyday sexism in the workplace”

Tackling everyday sexism is one of the core pillars from the Diversity and Inclusion policy launched by the company several years ago, as illustrated by the actions carried out to help raise awareness within Veolia in France. Examples include the Waste Recycling and Recovery business unit’s ambitious action plan to effectively combat sexist behavior in the workplace, as well as the micro-learning module “Taking action against everyday sexism in the workplace” deployed following a 2016 survey of Veolia’s teams in France. By signing up to this #StOpE initiative, Veolia is continuing to build on its commitments, as confirmed by Helman Le Pas de Sécheval, Veolia’s General Counsel, Executive Committee member and sponsor of the diversity commitment supporting the Group’s multifaceted performance, when this charter was signed: “We are proud to join this initiative because it is fully aligned with our values and our principles of diversity and non-discrimination”.

Joining forces

Coordinated by the AFMD (French Association of Diversity Managers), which Veolia has partnered with since 2008, this initiative champions the sharing, promotion and deployment of best practices and targeted actions to achieve lasting change by tackling sexism in the workplace through eight strong commitments.
