The report analyses the climate performance and best environmental practices of the major French CAC 40 companies. On the basis of publicly communicated data and four criteria - measurement and reporting, strategy and governance, objectives and reduction, commitment and innovation - it analyses the commitments, strategy, actions implemented, and results in making the sustainability challenge integral and central to their business models.
“In Germany, Veolia converts one billion plastic bottles a year into pellets to make new bottles, thereby saving 31,000 tonnes of oil. With Castorama, the Group is producing a new kitchen work surface using recycled plastic (65%) and wood residues (35%) from sales outlets. On the Plessis-Gassot site in France, Veolia produces 130GWh of electricity and 30 GWh of thermal energy per year by recovering the biogas from the waste," the report states.
