Veolia launches podcast series #WomenVoices this International Women's Day

Tune in this International Women's Day to hear from inspiring women who are committed to protecting the environment. #WomenVoices

Marked annually on March 8th, International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women - while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality.

#WomenVoices

To celebrate International Women Day this year, starting on Tuesday 8 March, Veolia Group is handing over the microphone to environmentally engaged women, including customers, employees, sports stars and many more inspiring women. Every morning throughout the week of 8 March, inspiring women from all across the globe will be speaking up on our social media to share their insights, doubts, projects and solutions. These intimate and sincere podcasts provide each speaker with a platform for raising awareness and focusing the spotlight on how they are each contributing towards a more sustainable future for everyone.

Veolia's "Yes WEDO Week"

In order to further promote gender diversity in corporate operations, and increase the number of women in management and leadership within the Group, Veolia introduced the internal collaboration network "WEDO", which is dedicated to promote gender equality and diversity in the workplace, as well as demonstrate equal rights and opportunities for women at work and during decisions-making. Veolia is committed to moving sustainable development and gender equality forward through WEDO, its internal network featuring 3,200 employees.

The name WEDO is a combination of the words "WE" and "DO", it represents the determination to put it into action together and it is a mutual commitment. Currently, the WEDO network has successfully attracted more than 2,000 employees to join, including both male and female; and the number of members within the WEDO network continues to grow. Veolia is committed to continuously and actively recruit all kinds of talents to participate in the Group’s business activities and corporate developments.

On the 8th March 2021, the first "WE DO" gender diversity week was launched, and Veolia employees from all over the world have initiated and taken part in various interesting activities through the WEDO network. With almost 80 events planned across 25 countries, "Yes WEDO Week" (7 to 11 March 2022) is organising a series of awareness raising events to address the challenges of gender equality at Veolia in all the countries where the Group does business.

This year the Australia and New Zealand team celebrated International Women’s Day through #choose to challenge events, career events with high school students and putting a spotlight on some of our inspirational women in leadership roles and operational roles.

We celebrated the achievements and careers of a fabulous group of inspirational 'Women in Water Treatment’! We had the pleasure of hosting a fantastic group of students from Lithgow High School in New South Wales and we hope that Veolia has proved that gender is no barrier to success and we should always #ChoosetoChallenge inequality.

We have partnered with Griffith University to deliver an inspiring webinar on ‘Promoting Gender Equality in the Workplace and Beyond’ which will be live streamed on the 16th of March and available to all Veolia Australia and New Zealand employees to join!
