Confidential Secure Destruction

South Australia thermal destruction facility

The Veolia thermal waste destruction facility ensures the safest and least harmful permanent destruction of medical, quarantine, confidential and pharmaceutical waste. Veolia has owned and operated its waste incineration facility in Dry Creek, South Australia for over 30 years. In 2010, Veolia invested $9 million to upgrade the facility to a Thermal Destruction Plant.

Solar-powered waste management
Veolia’s endless pursuit of sustainable business practices continues with the installation of solar panels on the entire roof of this facility in July 2016. The 100kW system is estimated to produce 143,000 kWh/annum, 12% of the facilities total consumption, resulting in a carbon saving of 93 tonnes/annum.

Capturing heat to make Energy
The next project on the agenda is to capture the heat generated from the thermal destruction process to produce electricity. Waste-to-Energy processes can be used to power and heat nearby buildings. A true circular economy solution and a truly green facility.

The state-of-the-art facility ensures our clients are provided with world-leading “best practice” environmental standards for pollutant emissions of hazardous and biohazardous wastes. The new facility has been designed to meet European Standard 4/12/2000 and exceeds South Australian and United States EPA standards for pollutant emission control.
