Operational features of the site include:
- Fully manned weighbridge, calibrated annually.
- Waste is stored on-site for a maximum of 48 hours.
- All operations are undertaken indoors.
- All trucks entering the site must cover their loads to prevent litter.
- Daily litter patrols are undertaken around the site.
Bibra Lake Material Recovery Facility
Our modern recycling centre was built using state-of-art technology to ensure the maximum recovery of recyclables. The MRF can process up to 30 tonnes per hour - that is equivalent to four full recycling trucks.
The Recycling Centre accepts ‘mixed recycling’ (i.e. mixed plastic and cardboard containers, cans and bottles).
That makes recycling easier for everyone, as recyclables don’t need to be separated for collection.
Collection trucks bring recyclables to our recycling centre in Bibra Lake, 20km south of the Perth CBD. The recyclables are unloaded into an area called the “tipping floor”.
From the tipping floor, recycling is placed onto a conveyor belt to commence processing. Recycling is then sorted by MRF machinery or by hand into “material streams” of:

Once separated, the different streams are baled (except glass) and sent for remanufacturing into new products.

Bibra Lake C&I MRF
Commercial & Industrial (C&I;) Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) sorts general waste collected from businesses in the Perth metropolitan area.
Commercial & Industrial waste consists of a wide variety of packaging and production wastes, including cardboard, timber, steel, aluminium and plastics. Our modern C&I; Recycling Centre was built in 2015 and recovers these valuable materials from the general waste stream; diverting them from landfill.
The C&I; Recycling Centre can process up to 25 tonnes per hour.
Collection trucks bring waste to the C&I; Recycling Centre where it is unloaded into an area called the “tipping floor”. From the tipping floor, waste is placed onto a conveyor belt to commence processing. Recyclable material is recovered by-hand and dropped into a series of storage bunkers for Cardboard, Timber, Steel, Aluminium, Mixed plastic
Once separated, the different streams are baled (except timber and steel) and sent for remanufacturing into new products.
Non-recyclables are transferred to our Waste Transfer Station for disposal at our Landfill.
Bibra Lake Transfer Station
Located at our Perth Operations Centre in Bibra Lake, the Waste Transfer Station receives waste that cannot be recovered through one of our Recycling Centres.
The Waste Transfer Station is a vital link in connecting our Perth operations and our landfill at the North Bannister Resource Recovery Facility.
At the Waste Transfer Station, waste is loaded into road trains and transported to the North Bannister Resource Recovery Facility, where it is disposed to landfill. Waste is transferred within 48 hours of receival.
All waste handling occurs indoors, so there is minimal impact to the local community.
