Incinerators

Incineration is a proven circular approach in reducing and recovering significant amounts of waste all over the world.

With regulatory compliance acting as its foundation, this method can develop additional renewable energy sources, which can then be plugged back into the grid as well as our client operations.

Globally, Veolia has experience in the design, build and financing of new incineration facilities, with waste-to-energy being a strategic focus for our busines since it ensures our stakeholders’ benefits are maximised.  As part of our operations, we maintain key global  performance targets to ensure all of our assets are regularly maintained and as necessary, replaced, adhering to the highest standards for health, safety and environmental management.

With sustainable designs such as the inclusion of combined heat and power (CHP) plants, our facilities are able to recover both heat and electricity from their operations.  In addition, where viable, the bottom ash that is generated from the incineration process may be used to produce a graded, quality material that can be substituted as an aggregate for applications such as road building.

As of March 2017, Veolia operates 64 waste-to-energy facilities around the world, equating to approximately 10 million tonnes of waste treated per annum with 75 million people served.  Specifically in Australia, Veolia has invested heavily in an advanced high temperature incineration facility to meet the country’s increasing demand for efficient disposal of hazardous streams such as medical and quarantine waste.
